Maitland Community Care Services is an organisation specialising in providing people with quality support to experience fulfilled living in the familiar environment of their own homes in Lochinvar.  Our resources and funds are channelled into training our staff, made possible by the fact that we are a not-for-profit organisation with no shareholders.

Our police-checked team is trained to the highest standards, to provide our clients with the support they need to stay living at home. Home Care provided safely in your Home

The Australian Government subsides the Commonwealth Home Support Program. This means you pay about 25% of the cost of your in-home care.

This is also known as CHSP and includes a range of practical services to help you with a scope of everything things for example. Senior Australians aged 65 plus and 50 plus ATSI can look forward to continuing to live at home through the CHSP or Commonwealth Home Support Program. Support is practical in nature and provided either day to day or on a regular basis to suit your requirements.

The following services can be included for clients in Lochinvar.

  • Taking a shower
  • Getting dressed
  • Shaving
  • Preparing a meal
  • Maintaining your yard
  • Shopping for food
  • Transport somewhere
  • Help with household chores like laundry

HCP or a Home Care Package is used to support clients with more complex needs and vary between levels 1 – 4. The package is designed to help meet the person’s support needs and include:

  • Household chores
  • In-home Nursing and allied health e.g. physiotherapy
  • Personal care eg showering, dressing, grooming
  • Meal preparation
  • Social support

We also provide support for:

  • Transport
  • Shopping
  • Personal safety needs e.g. alarms
  • Garden and Lawn care
  • Home modifications including ramps and rails
  • Health and wellbeing support
  • Equipment to make things easier (e.g. walkers, aids etc)

Explaining the Difference in Package Levels

Home Care Packages are available from Level 1 to Level 4, with each level addressing a different set of complexities:

  • Approx. 2 hours per week on HCP Level 1
  • Approx. 3 - 5 hours per week on HCP Level 2
  • Approx. 7 - 9 hours per week on HCP Level 3
  • Approx. 10 - 13 hours per week on HCP Level 4

Note:  Travel kilometres may impact on the above

Support Coordinated to Suit You

At the very start, you will be assigned a Case Manager who will help you to make sense of your Home Care Package.  You will be able to understand it as they unpack it for you and help you to get the value from it.

You can look forward to an expertly trained and experienced coordinator to partner with you, act on your behalf and advocate to get the service and support you need to live a well-supported life as you grow older.

Your coordinator will ensure that they understand your needs, have good communication with you and set you up to achieve success and the best outcomes so that you can focus on enjoying life.
