Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)

Entry-level support to make everyday tasks easier. 

The CHSP provides basic help to keep you safe and independent at home. It’s designed for people who only need a little support. 

Examples of CHSP supports 

• Domestic assistance (e.g. cleaning, laundry). 

• Meals and nutrition support (including Meals on Wheels). 

• Transport for shopping, appointments and social activities. 

• Social support and wellbeing activities. 

• In-home respite so carers can take a break. 

Who is eligible?

• People aged 65+ (50+ for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people), or 

• People with specific needs, as assessed through My Aged Care.

How it works 

• Contact us: we’ll explain CHSP in simple terms. 

• Assessment: You will need to register for an assessment with My Aged Care. 

• Start supports: Choose Maitland Community Care Services for local, reliable services. 

• Costs: A small contribution may apply. We’re transparent about fees.
