Community Transport

Mobility can be a huge barrier for people as they age and still need to get out and about to access services and social activities. Our specialised transport services are for people who find access to mainstream transport a barrier.

Loss of mobility or loss of licence can mean that people become trapped or isolated in their home or totally dependent on family and friends. Community Transport provides independence and enables people to take responsibility for their transport requirements.

Maitland Community Care Services provide:

  • Door to door transport with assistance;
  • Transport to medical and other appointments, social activities and visiting, shopping and general access to services;
  • Group social bus outings;
  • Newcastle services daily;
  • Shopping bus services;
  • Taxi Subsidy Vouchers for after hours/weekends.

  • Experienced and caring staff and volunteers.

Transport Project

As part of our continued vision to enhance the quality of life of people in our community, Maitland Community Care Services has recently auspiced the Transport Project. This project in collaboration with NSW Transport and Infrastructure and Maitland City Council will review the existing public transport system and identify opportunities for people who may be transport disadvantaged.

The project worker Christine Finch will be looking to speak to or survey a range of individuals and organisations about their transport experiences (including finding and understanding transport information) over the coming months. People who may want to contribute or find out more about the transport project can contact Ms Finch on Monday or Wednesday by phoning 49325755. Alternatively they can download and complete the attached survey and email it to christine@mccs.org.au
