Volunteers
Maitland Community Care Services Inc. currently has a team of 270 volunteers who assist to provide important client services.
Volunteers are offered:
- Free education and training programs;
- Bi monthly newsletter;
- Uniforms and safety equipment;
- Rewards and recognition for your dedication;
- Ongoing support from the Team Leaders;
- Reimbursement of out of pocket expenses (petrol, fares and phone calls); and
- Social interaction with other Volunteers.
All volunteers must have the following attributes:
- Empathy with frail, elderly people and people with disabilities
- Good communication skills
- Happy, friendly disposition
- Team player
- Willingness to learn new skills
Before you can volunteer we require:
- Completed Application Form
- Copy of license (if driving)
- Copies of insurance and registration of own vehicle (if driving)
- Clear Criminal Record check
We then provide you with:
- on the job orientation and training
- Safe Work Practice training
- buddy system with existing volunteers
You may be interested in some of the following roles:
- Drivers –
- you could help out with driving the project vehicle for community transport clients
- or driving your own vehicle delivering meals
- or driving your own vehicle taking clients shopping or to appointments or on social drives
- Assistants –
- You could accompanying drivers delivering meals
- Or help out in the kitchen packing meals
- Or helping people on and off the buses
- Or taking people shopping and helping with groceries
- Or helping out with group activities
- Or visiting clients who are housebound for companionship
- Or helping clients who find it hard to continue to do things like walking or grooming pets
- Home Handyman –
- If you enjoy carrying out minor repairs and maintenance tasks (not tradesman related)
- Or if you enjoy gardening or pruning bushes (no lawn mowing)
- Fundraising –
- Helping out with fundraising activities organised by the MCCS Fundraising Group.
