Volunteers & Recruitment

Maitland Community Care Services Inc. currently has a team of 90 volunteers who assist to provide important client services. Last year volunteers provided over 14,000 hours of volunteer work to the clients of the organisation!

All volunteers are provided with free training and information sessions as well as rewards such as Appreciation Dinners and recognition for years of service and are provided with shirts and ID badges.

Volunteers are offered reimbursement for all out of pocket expenses.

Positions available for volunteers are:

  • Car driving (using own car or project car)
  • Bus Assistant
  • Social Support
  • Group Activities
  • Administration
  • Fundraising
Requirements for these positions are as follows:
Car Driving – own car
  • Class C drivers licence and good driving record
  • Own comprehensively insured car with easy access for older people
  • Good mobility and physical fitness
Car Driving – project car
  • Class C licence and good driving record
  • Competent driving large station wagon
  • Good mobility and physical fitness
Bus Assistant
  • Good mobility and physical fitness
Social Support
  • No specific requirements
Group Activities
  • No specific requirements

All volunteers must have the following attributes:

  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record check
  • Empathy with frail, elderly people and people with disabilities
  • Good communication skills
  • Happy, friendly disposition
  • Team player
  • Willingness to learn new skills

What do I need to do?:

  • Phone the office or call in personally
  • Arrangements will be made for an interview to complete the application form
  • Commitment then required for Induction Process – equivalent of approximately 15 hours
  • Further orientation and on-the-job training provided
